Navdeep Saini has been named as a replacement for Mohammed Shami. This news would have certainly surprised the former one as the latter failed to clear the Yo-Yo test.
India will face the “Rising” Afghans at Bengaluru and the inclusion of the youngster certainly grabbed eyeballs of the public.
Who is Navdeep Saini ??
Not many know on his domestic records but you shouldn’t be shocked that he was the leading wicket-taker for Delhi last season with 34 wickets.
The youngster made his debut in shorter formats in the Syed Mushtaq Ali trophy 2015-16 season and proved his mettle as a fighting youngster.
An unnamed source said that Saini used to practice with tennis balls in his young days. His dad and his grandpa were pillars in shaping his career and saini even said that his grandpa would love to watch him on the television.
Though he was roped into the Delhi Daredevils squad in 2017 for a base price of 10 lakhs, he wasn’t even given a chance. In 2018, he was bought for a whopping 3 crore by Royal Challengers Bangalore, but skipper Kohli had other ideas.
While Siraj, Kejroliya and Pawan Negi made it to playing XI, the youngster still has to wait for his maiden stint in IPL.
The 25- year-old right arm medium bowler from Delhi thanked Gambhir who groomed to be a better version of him. Post-Afghanistan test he will be joining his fellow mates at India ‘A’ squad who will be playing four-day matches at England.
If Saini makes use of this opportunity, the probability of him making into the Indian test squad will be higher.
