Indian skipper Ajinkya Rahane walked out to bat after the dismissal of Shubman Gill for 91. He came out with an aggressive approach and batted with an aggressive approach as well. He scored 24 off just 22 balls including two big hits to the fence. India are aiming to make history at the Gabba by being the first team to beat Australia for the first time since 31 years.

Rahane added 35 important runs in quick time with the Indian number three. He scored 24 off them including a four and six. He lofted one through square-leg to Nathan Lyon who was trying to dominate him.

Pat Cummins Dismisses Ajinkya Rahane

Previously Shubman Gill and Pujara added a century stand (114) dominating the first session of play. They also scored exactly 100 runs in 25 overs in the second session heading to tea at 183 for 3.

The Australian bowlers meanwhile kept bowling at the body of the Indian batsmen. Pujara took a few blows with the most painful of them being the one when he was hit on his right hand. he winced in pain as the physio came out to have a check on him.

Despite that Pujara continued on his merry way and was unbeaten on 43 at tea time. He has been the glue in the Indian batting line-up at least in this innings. Pujara has scored 258 runs in three Tests including this innings.

Meanwhile, Gill’s 91 in the second innings at The Gabba has scored 259 runs in his very first Test series. The right-hander was defiant in the way he played taking the attack to the opposition and staging a perfect platform for India t go for the runs.

Finally, Nathan Lyon ended Shubman Gill’s classy innings on 91. His knock also included a 20run over of Mitchell Starc.
