Bangladesh Pacer Mustafizur Rahman ruled out of T20I Series against Afghanistan

Bangladeshi pacer Mustafizur Rahman has been ruled out of the three-match T20I series against Afghanistan due to an injury. Sources reveal that Rahman has been sidelined due to a crack in his left toe.

The Bangladesh cricket board made this announcement today which mentioned, “Subsequent tests have revealed a crack on his left big toe which will sideline him for a few weeks.”

Debashish Chowdhury, senior physician of the team said that the injury may rule him out for the next 4-6 weeks. He also mentioned that his rehabilitation will start in a  period of two weeks.

This comes as a major blow for the side who are really looking to make again in the ICC T20 rankings. It is to be noted that all the three matches will be played in Rajiv Gandhi stadium at Dehradun, India. The matches will be played on June 3,5 and 7 respectively. Bangladesh is currently ranked tenth, two slots behind the Afghans.

Afghanistan already played a lot of matches at Noida, which made them adaptable to the sub-continent conditions.

Mustafizur, who represented Mumbai Indians this season had a rough patch as he managed to pick only seven wickets. He has been the Frontline bowler for the National team in the shortest format of the game as he picked 35 wickets in just 24 matches.

He has also adjudged the emerging player award when he represented Sunrisers Hyderabad in the year 2016. He is the only overseas player to bag this award to date.

The board announced the 15-men strong squad in their Twitter handle a week ago and it will be interesting who will replace fizz in the squad.
