There has been a lot of rumors going around about the Indian Coach rift but it also came from cricket Advisory Board that Kumble would continue his work as the head coach at least for west indies series.

But Anil Kumble has stepped down as Indian cricket team’s head coach, just days after the Men in Blue lost to Pakistan in the ICC Champions Trophy final. Kohli’s cold relationship with Kumble was clearly visible during the Champions Trophy. During nets, the captain and coach hardly interacted.

As Farokh Engineer said: “India doesn’t need a coach. They need to rename that role to something like a cricket manager. Kohli needs a good man manager, not a headmaster.”

Former Hyderabad captain and Board of Control for Cricket in India’s newly appointed General Manager (Cricket Operations) MV Sridhar today said that he has “enough credentials to serve Indian cricket” and is ready to take up this new challenge despite a section in BCCI questioning his appointment.

The veteran said, ““I have nothing to say if people question my appointment and credentials. My First-Class record as a cricketer [6701 runs at an average of 48.91 with 21 hundred”s is there for everybody to see. I was very much present at the AGM where my name was announced. So I feel sorry for those who are questioning my credentials.”

Having played alt of domestic cricket and being involved in a lot of roles in administration, he is confident enough and looking forward to his new role. “This is a new challenge but I am ready for it. I have played cricket at a certain level and with whatever little expertise I have, I would like to bring it into use. I have been working in a top position in an HR department of a corporate company for the past 15 years. I have been a manager of the Indian cricket team on three tours. I have been a joint secretary of HCA for six years and now a secretary. I feel that’s good enough credentials for this post.”

India’s first match against West Indies is scheduled in Trinidad on June 23. The five-match ODI and lone T20 series end July 9. In the past, former Ranji cricketer and boss of Odisha Cricket Association Ranjib Biswal and MV Sridhar, who is now BCCI”s General Manager (cricket operations) had worked with ease.
