In the all important ICC Champions Trophy semi-final, India won the toss and allowed Pakistan to get their willows out. Fakhar Zaman, riding his luck, notched up his maiden international hundred, a sparkling 114!
Pakistan set India a daunting target of 339. This may have been an uphill task for some other, but for team India, being born-chasers it seemed quite gettable. India got off to the worst possible start, losing two of their best batsmen Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli inside 3 overs.
The third over of the match was no short of drama. Aamir had his tail up and was bowling to world’s best ODI batsman, Virat Kohli. Virat knicked one to Azhar Ali in the slip cordon. The ball popped out of Azhar’s hands straight onto the ground. It looked like Azhar Ali had dropped the Champions Trophy.
Next ball was something dramatic! Virat Kohli was trying to flick the ball on the leg side with an angled bat, only to see ball being lobbed up in the air straight to Shadab at point. The hearts of Indian fans sunk as they saw their captain walking back to the pavilion.
Twitter burst with tweets after Virat’s dismissal. Here are some of the tweets:-
@imVkohli has nothing to prove about being the best batsman in the world especially in a chase. Will he be the man again today?
