He is alleged to have portrayed the Hindu God, Lord Vishnu, endorsing various products, on the cover of a magazine, way back in 2013.
A local court in Ananthapur, Andhra Pradesh, has issued a non-bailable warrant against the cricketer and has summoned him to make a personal appearance in the court on 25th February 2016.
On the Karnataka High Court refusing to quash the criminal proceedings filed against him, the Indian skipper had appealed to the apex court seeking relief.
The apex court stayed the criminal proceedings and also issued a notice to the petitioner, a social activist, who had filed the case.
However, Arun Pandey of Rhiti Sports’ told ESPNCricinfo, “Neither did he (Dhoni) pose for the picture, nor were we aware of such a picture being published.”
