Royal Challengers Bangalore is one of the IPL franchises seeking several players after releasing 10 players in the retention window. Glenn Maxwell is one the players they will be looking to rope in to bolster their batting line-up. There will be a total of 292 players up for grabs at the mini-auction with 62 vacant spots to fill for all eight teams. There will be a host of big names who will go under the hammer at the auction on February 18.

Glenn Maxwell, who was roped in by Kings XI Punjab last year for a whopping Rs 10.7 crore, was released by the franchise ahead of the player auction this year. Maxwell had a woeful campaign in IPL 2020 in UAE last year where he managed to score only 108 runs in 13 games without managing a single fifty.

The Australian all-rounder meanwhile, opened up on playing under Virat Kohli at the RCB. Maxwell has played for three teams in the IPL so far and Bangalore will be his fourth franchise. He has played for Mumbai Indians, Kings XI Punjab, and Delhi Capitals in the past.

“I get along with Virat pretty well. It’ll be certainly nice to work under Virat and will certainly enjoy batting with him – that’s for sure. It will be awesome to work with him, and he’s always been really helpful to me along the journey. Whenever I’ve caught up with him, he’s been brilliant. So to be able to work with him first hand will be pretty cool,” Maxwell said.

Meanwhile, the BCI has laid down a set of norms for all the IPL franchisees to follow before coming into the IPL 2021 auction.

“Before checking into their respective rooms, they (those arriving on February 17) will undergo a Rapid Antigen Test followed by an RT-PCR test for COVID-19 at the designated sampling kiosk set up in the hotel by the BCCI’s accredited testing agency. All individuals must quarantine in their respective rooms until results of the RT-PCR tests are available. Typically the reports will be available within 3-4 hours of sample collection” said a mail from the BCCI.

Glenn Maxwell meanwhile, has scored 1505 runs to his name in 82 IPL matches at an average of 22.13 and a strike rate of over 150.
