India Under-19 trash England Under-19 by 8 wickets in 2nd Youth ODI

India Under 19 continued their brilliant form by beating England Under 19 in the second One day International by 8 wickets played at ST Lawerence Ground, Canterbury last night. Winning the toss, England captain won the toss and elected to bat, was bowled out for 175 in 44.4 overs. The target of 176 runs was chased easily by India Under 19 batsmen.

England Under 19 captain HC Brooks won the toss and elected to bat. The opening batsmen of Trevaskis and Banks got off to a positive start putting on 48 runs in the first 9 overs. Banks was dismissed by Chahar for 23. Trevaskis and captain HC Brooks added 36 runs for the second wicket. After Trevaskis fell at the score of 84, the Indian spinners especially Roy , Chahar and Sharma continued to put pressure on the England batting line up. England Under 19 were reduced to 123 for 7 in the 29th over. The hosts tried to put partnerships as they were bowled out for 175 in 44.4 overs.

Chasing the target of 176, India Under 19 openers Prithivi Shaw and HC Rana gave the team a flying start putting pressure on England bowling line up. In the first 10 overs, both the openers put on 69 runs which gave the team a solid foundation. HC Rana completed his fifty in 49 balls. The captain Shaw was dismissed for 48 ending a 110 runs partnership in just 16.4 overs.

The second wicket partnership of Shubham Gill and HC Rana continued to punish the England bowlers. Both of them put on 61 runs before Rana was dismissed for 74. Gill remained not out on 38. India Under 19 won the match by 8 wickets with 100 balls to spare. None of England bowlers impressed with their bowling.

Himanshu Rana was named the player of the match for his 74.

India Under 19 177 for 2 in 33.2 overs ( HC Rana 74, Shaw 48) beat England Under 19 175 in 44. 4 overs ( Trevaskis 35, Lammonby 30*, AS Roy 4/27, Chahar 3/26) by 8 wickets

India Under 19 takes a 2-0 lead in the five match ODI series. The third ODI will be played at County Ground, Hove on 12th August.
