Indian Women clinched the ODI series 2-1 against England Women

The Indian women team sealed the 3 match ODI series against England by beating them in deciding ODI at VCA Stadium, Nagpur. England women posted 201 for 9 in 50 overs and Indian women chased down the target with ease.

England women captain Heather Knight won the toss and elected to bat first. The Indian bowlers struck twice dismissing both Beaumont and Wyatt cheaply. At the end of first 10 overs, the visitors posted 34 for 2.

Captain Heather Knight and Jones steadied the innings with 77 runs partnership for the 3rd wicket. England lost wickets at regular intervals. Jones was the only England batter to provide resistance against the Indian bowling. The wicketkeeper batter Jones reached her fifty off 73 balls and was finally dismissed off the last ball. England women posted 201 for 9 in 50 overs.

For India, Jhulan Goswami, Gayakwad, Deepti Sharma and Poonam Yadav picked 2 wickets each. All of them bowled well in tandem not allowing England women post a massive total.

Chasing 202 runs to win the series, Indian women lost an early wicket of young Rodrigues in the very first over itself. Veda Krishna Murthy could not score too much as she was dismissed for 7 runs. Smriti Mandhana and Mithali Raj steadied the innings with positive batting. Mandhana completed her half-century off 61 balls.

Mandhana had to retired hurt on 53. At that time Indian women scored 99 for 2. Soon after Deepti Sharma and put up a partnership with Captain Mithali Raj. Raj showed her class in the decider scoring her 50th ODI half-century off his career. In this match, she reached her half-century off 92 balls. Deepti Sharma reached her fifty off 61 balls and hit the winning run. Team India won the match by 8 wickets with 28 balls to spare.

Indian women 202 for 2 in 45.2 overs ( Mithali Raj 74*, Deepti Sharma 54*, Smriti Mandhana 53 R*, Shurbsole 2/37) beat

England women 201 for 9 in 50 overs ( Jones 94, Heather Knight 36, R Gayakwad 2/32, Deepti Sharma 2/35) by 8 wickets.

Indian women sealed the ODI series by 2-1.
