The full schedule of Sri Lanka’s tour to India next month has been finalized, though the Board of Cricket Control of India (BCCI) has not announced the details officially, the fixture has been revealed by ESPNcricinfo upon verification with the venues which are scheduled to host the matches.
The Sri Lankan team will be in India for a span 37 days playing three test matches, three ODI’s and three T20I’s with the first test likely to begin from November 16 at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Nagpur and Delhi are likely to host the remaining two test matches.
The cramped schedule saw the island nation playing the ODI series just after four days from the end of the test series. The first ODI will be played at Dharamsala on December 10 while the other two matches will take place on Mohali and Visakhapatnam.
The Sri Lankan team will end their tour on December 24 playing their last T20I in Mumbai. Cuttack and Indore will complete the T20 fixture.
Nagpur will host its first test since 2015 after ICC gave a poor rating to the Jamtha pitch during the South Africa series. The pitch has been relaid and the fifth ODI against Australia was played on the same pitch on October 1.
Thiruvananthapuram, who was supposed to host a T20I against Sri Lanka swapped their fixture with Cuttack citing the festival season and will now host a T20I against New Zealand. Kerala Cricket Association secretary Jayesh George while talking to ESPNcricinfo said, “We were initially supposed to host Sri Lanka in December and Odisha [Cuttack] were supposed to host the New Zealand game in November. But, there is a festival in Odisha in November, so we are now hosting the New Zealand game instead.”
India will face Sri Lanka for the second bilateral series this year. Earlier India traveled to thrash them 9-0 across all formats of the game during July-August.
