INDvSL: Team India continue to dominate Sri Lanka on day 2

India continued their dominance on the 2nd day of the 3rd test at Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium, New Delhi. Kohli scored 243 runs while Sharma also made 65 runs. After the lunch break, the Sri Lankan players struggled due to conditions. India declared their innings on 536 for 7. Sri Lanka at the end of day 2 was 132 for 3.

India began the second day on 371 for 4. Both overnight batsmen continued to play with positive intent and hammered the Sri Lankan bowling. Virat Kohli completed his sixth double century in 238 balls. Rohit Sharma also completed his half-century in 88 balls. Before the lunch break, Rohit Sharma was dismissed by Sandakan for 65. India ended the first session on 500 for 5.

In the second session, the Sri Lankan fielders were struggling to breathe and halted the play. When play started, R Ashwin has dismissed 4 runs. Again the Sri Lankan fielders complained. Virat Kohli got frustrated and was then dismissed by Sandakan for a marathon innings of 243. The Indian captain then decided to declare the innings in 536 for 7.

India took the wicket of Karunanthe in the very first ball by Mohammed Shami. Both Ishant Sharma and Shami bowled with great pace. Ishant Sharma then dismissed Dhanjaya de Silva. At the end of the second session, Sri Lanka was struggling at 18 for 2.

In the third session, Dilwruan Perera was dropped by Dhawan at slips. Mathews was too dropped by captain Kohli. Both Perera and Mathews played positive strokes adding 61 runs for the third wicket. Perera was dismissed by a review. The umpire gave it not out and Kohli reviewed it, the decision was changed. Jadeja took the wicket of Perera for 42. After that Mathews and Chandimal struggled against fast bowlers.

Mathews completed his half-century in 72 balls. Both Chandimal and Mathews have put on 56 runs for the fourth wicket so far. Sri Lanka ended day 2 on 131 for 3.

Sri Lanka 131 for 3 in 44.3 overs ( Mathews 57, Perera 42) trail India 536 for 7d in 127.5 overs ( Kohli 243, Vijay 155, Sharma 65, Sandakan 4/167) by 405 runs.
