IPL 2018: Good news for IPL fans as the BCCI tweaks the timing of the playoffs & final

In a good news for IPL fans, After the league stage matches finish of ongoing IPL season, the IPL playoff matches and finals would be starting at 7 PM. The league stages are starting at 8 PM and going until 12 PM which has not gone well the people going to work, schools.

Keeping interest of fans, it is a good decision by IPL chairman to advance the timings to 7 PM. The league stage of IPL 11 finishes on 20th May.

After that, the 1st qualifier will be played on 22nd May at Mumbai, followed by the Eliminator on 23rd May at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. The qualifier 2 will be played on 25th May at Eden Gardens, Kolkata which will follow by finals on 27th May at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. This changing of timings will see fans glued to the TV and would many school kids, office going people watch the match.

Before the IPL 11 tournament started, the broadcasters of IPL wanted to start the matches from 7 PM but the franchises did want matches to start early. With many school kids, office going people going to their respective places, 8 PM IPL matches creates a big problem for them the next day.

Shukla speaking to News 18 said “The IPL is what it is because of its fans and the tournament has over the years been followed avidly both on the ground and on television at homes. So, keeping the interest of the fans in mind, it was decided that the playoff games and the final will start an hour earlier. So, instead of the 8 pm start, the games will start at 7 pm,”

The IPL 2018 has been a great tournament so far and with so many matches left, fans would be hoping to see many actions packed cricket in the coming matches.
