Chennai Super Kings announced their return in style by winning both the matches played and clinched the top spot in the points table.

Meanwhile, their key player Suresh Raina has been ruled out of injury for next ten days of the tournament. It is evident that he will be not a part of the squad for a minimum of two matches I. e he would miss the matches against Punjab and Rajasthan.

Raina sustained a calf injury in the match against Knight riders at Chepauk as he struggled to run before getting dismissed for 14 runs.

This will be the first instance where Raina has been ruled out of injury for the Super Kings. The Number 3 batsmen have played 134 matches for the franchise and his services will be missed in the squad.

Raina is now the third player in the squad to get injured and this will really be a worry for Chennai to tinker their batting lineup. Santner and Jadhav were ruled out of the squad due to their knee and hamstring injuries.

Their key players Murali Vijay and Faf du Plessis, who sustained minor injuries are expected to be fit for their next match with Punjab at Mohali on April 15.

It is to be noted that Raina is the leading run scorer of IPL with 4558 runs and the chances of reaching the 5k run mark this season looks bleak.

Chennai will be looking forward to including Dhruv Shorey in their batting lineup ho had a fantastic domestic season in  2017-18.

Super Kings will be looking to tick their boxes against Punjab and maintain their position in the points table.
