IPL 2018: This English player announced as a replacement for Rabada in Delhi Daredevils squad


Delhi Daredevils has been one of the squads who is still looking to clinch their first title. The team known for its inconsistency over the years will are looking forward to changing their fortunes in this edition of IPL. GG, making a return to his home would like to tick his boxes and make his wishes come true by clinching a cup for his home team.

Meanwhile, the DD management has announced English bowler  Liam Plunkett as the replacement for injured Kagiso Rabada. It is to be noted that KG  has been ruled out of the league due to a stiff back.

The 33-year-old Yorkshire bowler has been a permanent member of England squad for quite some time now. Liam Plunkett picked over 100 scalps in ODI’s in just 65  matches.

Plunkett is ranked 19 in the recently released ICC ODI bowler rankings. This will be the first appearance for him in this cash-rich league and it will be interesting to see if Gambhir includes him in the playing XI.

There has been a significant rise in the number of English players who took interest to participate in this league since the past decade. Barring Joe root and Morgan, most of the English players grabbed the contracts and would like to make their opportunities count.

Recently Alex Hales and Tom Curran were also announced as replacements for the SRH and KKR franchises.

Plunkett will be joining the likes of Trent Boult, Shami and other spinners. Assisted by Ricky Ponting, it will be interesting to see how the players will be groomed mentally to approach the shortest format of the game.
