David Warner stepped down as the captain of SRH earlier today. After CA sanctioned him a ban of one year, BCCI confirmed that he will not allow representing this year”s IPL for breaching the code of conduct in the gentleman”s game.

Meanwhile, reports suggest that SRH franchise has approached Kusal Janith Perera as his replacement for the opening slot. The 27-year-old all-rounder represented RR in the past and just played a couple of matches for the side. He also ended up as the leading run scorer of the Nidahas trophy 2018 with 204 runs that included a match-winning half-century in the first game against India.

Kusal has represented SL in 34 T20″S and amassed over 1000 runs at an S/R of 137 and this makes him an ideal replacement for Warner if named.

Kusal whose stance resembles Sanath Jayasuriya is a hard hitter of the ball an is a perfect T20 package. Given a chance to represent SRH, he will be trying to make the best use of it and gain a place in his national squad to play in all formats of the game.

Kusal Perera is also a wicketkeeper and this makes his presence lively to fill the gaps of in the absence of Saha.

SRH has a stable middle order with the likes of Manish Pandey, Saha, Yusuf Pathan and Shakib Al Hasan. Warner and Dhawan were expected to make opening duties but ball tampering has cost him this IPL season and a year as well.

SRH will start their season against RR on April 9, 2018, at Hyderabad.
