Ganguly also expressed his gratitude to the groundsmen who played their part in clinching this award. This season Eden Gardens hosted nine matches (7 Kolkata Knight Riders home matches and two playoffs). The crowd extended their support to the players by turning out in huge numbers in every match.
It is to be noted that Eden has a ritual similar to Lord’s where a recognized player is allowed to ring the bell prior to the game. This season Warne, Rahane, Kane Williamson and several other players rung the bell and this gesture is really a pleasing one for the Indian fans.
