Rajasthan Royals skipper Steve Smith had a good start to his IPL 2020 career, scoring 69 off 47 balls against Chennai Super Kings. He along with Sanju Samson (74 off 32) plundered the Chennai bowling attack in the placid Sharjah wicket on Tuesday night.

Meanwhile, the Royals skipper was seen trying practising new shots at a recent practice session. Steve Smith was seen playing the helicopter shot to perfection. He hit the shot of Ankit Rajpoot, his teammate.

The official Twitter handle of the Rajasthan Royals was quick to share the video of the same. “Gotta love a captain who plays the helicopter shot!” Royals captioned the video.

Rajasthan to play Kings XI Punjab next

Steve Smith and his men will play Kings XI Punjab in Sharjah next Sunday (September 27). Smith missed the ODI series against England before owing to a concussion injury. However, he entered the IPL 2020 match fit and raring to go. He proved it too by making a winning contribution to his team.

The Royals won the IPL title in its inaugural year in 2008. However, since then, the franchise has hardly tasted quality success in the tournament. RR finished seventh in IPL 2019, winning just five matches in the tournament.

Meanwhile, there is some good news for the Royals fans as star all-rounder Ben Stokes is expected to return to the side in the first week of October. Jos Buttler will also be available from the next match as he completes his mandatory quarantine. The Royals will play two more matches in Sharjah, six matches in Dubai and five in Abu Dhabi.
