IPL 2020 will start in exactly a week from now with defending champions Mumbai Indians taking on Chennai Super Kings in the first match in Abu Dhabi on September 19. Ahead of the campaign opener, the players are practicing hard under the watchful eyes of head coach Mahela Jayawardene and bowling coach Shane Bond.

MI pacer Trent Boult broke the middle-stump into two halves at a practice session on Saturday. The official twitter handle of the Mumbai Indians posted a video of the same as well with the caption ” Clean Boult!”.

In another tweet shared by MI, they have posted the picture of the broken stumps and asked their fans to guess the name of the bowler with the caption ” \|/ Guess who did this “.

Mumbai to Miss Malinga in IPL 2020

Mumbai Indians will miss the services of pacer Lasith Malinga this season. The veteran pacer has decided to opt out from IPL 2020 saying that he wanted to stay with his family during these COVID-19 times. It is thus very expected that Boult will share the new ball with Jasprit Bumrah and together the duo will pose problems for all the teams in the tournament.

Mumbai Indians have been the most successful IPL franchise over the years having won four IPL titles. All four of them came under the leadership of Rohit Sharma, who started leading the franchise in 2013. Since then every alternative year, MI have won the IPL title with the latest one in 2019.

Earlier, the BCCI decided the stage IPL 2020 in Abu Dhabi after the ICC postponed the Men’s World T20, which was scheduled to be hosted by Australia in October-November this year.

Meanwhile, several IPL stars have decided to skip the tournament this season over coronavirus fears and other personal reasons. CSK has been the most affected side even before the season has started with Harbhajan Singh and Suresh Raina pulling out of the season.
