On February 5(Friday), the IPL Governing Council released the list of players who have set their base price of ₹2 crores for the IPL 2021 auction. Meanwhile, 1097 cricketers have registered for the auction which will take place on February 18 in Chennai.
Meanwhile, 1097 players from all across the world have registered for the upcoming IPL 2021 auction. It includes 207 capped, 863 uncapped, and 27 Associate players. If every franchisee has a maximum of 25 players in their squad, 61 players will be taken in the auction (of which up to 22 may be overseas players).

Out of the 1097 cricketers registered for IPL 2021 auction, 11 have set a base price of ₹2 Crore- the highest slab of money offered. The list consists of two Indians and former Chennai Super Kings teammates- Harbhajan Singh and Kedar Jadhav.
Incidentally, Harbhajan left the three-time champions after his three-year contract came to an end, Kedar was released by the franchise following his poor run in IPL 2020 in the UAE. The nine other players are namely Glenn Maxwell, Steve Smith, Shakib Al Hasan, Moeen Ali, Sam Billings, Liam Plunkett, Jason Roy, Mark Wood, and Colin Ingram.
Maxwell, Moeen, and Smith were released by their respective franchises owing to poor performances in IPL 2020 while Billings, Plunkett, Wood, and Ingram were not part of the last edition that took place in the UAE.

Meanwhile, players from all countries have registered in the IPL 2021 auction with West Indies (56) leading the way. Players from Australia (42), South Africa (38), Sri Lanka (31), Afghanistan (30), New Zealand (29), England (21), UAE (9), Nepal (8), Scotland (7), Bangladesh (5), Ireland (2), USA (2), Zimbabwe (2), Netherlands (1) have also registered for the auction.
