Australia fast bowler Mitchell Starc has opted to withdraw from the T20I series against India due to personal reasons. Ahead of the second T20I of the series, Cricket Australia confirmed that Starc will miss the remaining two T20I matches on compassionate grounds to deal with a family illness.

After returning to Sydney from Canberra, Starc left the bio-bubble of the Australian team after seeing a family illness. Nothing has been confirmed regarding when will the Starc rejoin the Australian side. The left-arm seamer is part of the Aussie Test squad against India which will begins on December 17.

Australian coach Justin langer has supported Starc’s decision of joining his family and has asserted that the team will welcome him back in the squad whenever he feels it is the right time for him and his family.

“There is nothing in the world more important than family and in this case, Mitch is no exception. We will give Mitch all the time he needs and welcome him back into the squad with open arms whenever he feels the time is right for him and his family”, head coach Justin Langer said in a statement.

Meanwhile, Starc in the ODI series and first T20I against India looked dreadfully out of bowling rhythm. The speedster looked a pale shadow of himself and wasn’t able to create an impact against India in white-ball cricket. In Starc’s absence experienced T20 bowler Andrew Tye or Daniel Sams is expected to feature in the second T20I against India at Sydney.

The loss of Starc is a tremendous blow for Australia as they are already without David Warner and Pat Cummins in the T20 series. Also, there is an injury concern regarding captain Aaron Finch who picked an injury during the first T20I at Canberra. The second T20I of the series between Australia and India will begin today at 1:40 live from SCG.
