England Cricket Board (ECB) has announced a 30-member squad that will begin their training for the upcoming Test series against West Indies. The camp will take place at the Ageas Bowl stadium in Southampton. All the 30 players will be training behind closed doors ahead of the three-match Test series.

Moeen Ali and Johnny Bairstow will feature in the training group. The two players last played an international match in 2019. Moeen Ali has been out of action since the first Ashes Test at Edgbaston whereas Baristow last played the boxing day Test against South Africa. The two players will return to training for what will be the first series post-COVID-19.

England-West Indies series to start from July 8

“Everyone involved with England is delighted that cricket is returning soon and that the players are reporting for group training in preparation for the Test series against the West Indies”.

England last played a Test series earlier this year against South Africa which they won 3-1.

“We’d also like to thank all the county coaches who have supported these players over the past few weeks. A squad for the first Test will be announced in due course,” national selector Ed Smith said.

The ECB also named the coaching staff for the Test series. The three-member group includes head coach Chris Silverwood and his assistant coach and batting specialist Graham Thorpe. Meanwhile, three county coaches Lancashire head coach Glen Chapple and Gloucestershire’s head Coach Richard Dawson will closely work with Silverwood during the Test series.
