Mohammad Hafeez Questions India’s Intent Against England In World Cup

After Ben Stokes, veteran Pakistan all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez has questioned India’s intent during their World Cup game against England. While Hafeez didn’t say the Men in Blues lost deliberately, the all-rounder clearly mentioned there was no intent from the players.

Meanwhile, England defeated India comprehensively by 31 runs in that game in Birmingham. The Men In Blues failed to chase England’s massive score of 337 for 7 during the mega event. The match took a toll on India’s performance who finally bowed out from the semifinals losing to New Zealand.

A victory for India would have boosted the chance of Pakistan of making into the knockouts. However, with the defeat, the chances of Sarfaraz Ahmed’s side also faded. Mohammad Hafeez has once again ignited the fire saying that there was no intent from the Indian players.

“Ask any cricket fan, everyone will say intent to play with spirit was not there. I don’t know about the results and who went out because of that. We played good cricket and we were out because of our small mistakes. So I can’t blame any result for that,” Hafeez said during a video conference organised by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

“But as a fan, if I see the match, I did not see the match-winning intent. I felt bad for the sport. The encounter factor was missing where both teams were playing to win. The mistakes we made, we failed to tick a few boxes in the 2019 World Cup. But as a fan, that is my opinion about that game,” he added.

Meanwhile, a number of former Pakistan cricketers claimed that India lost intentionally to knock Pakistan out. However, former West Indies legend Michael Holding has slammed those claims saying those are untrue.
