There comes the goods news for the fans of the Indian Premier League, as the defending champions Mumbai Indians all set to start their training for the upcoming IPL 2020. The franchise has invited the players including the skipper Rohit Sharma to join the preparation camp.

They have started the training at the Reliance Stadium at Ghansoli, outskirts of Mumbai. Mumbai is the first franchise to start training after the outbreak of COVID-19, which postponed the tournament indefinitely.

It is surprising to see Mumbai becoming the first franchise to start training despite being the worst-hit place in the country. However, the players were given an option to stay away from the camp if they feel unsafe reaching the ground amidst the virus outbreak.

The skipper Rohit Sharma, all-rounders Hardik Pandya and Krunal Pandya, batsmen Suryakumar Yadav, Aditya Tare and pace bowler Dhawal Kulkarni were all invited to join the practice camp for the upcoming season.

“Mumbai Indians have given the option of training to us. I am eagerly looking forward to getting there. There is nothing like the feeling of holding the bat again. I have hardly stepped out of home in the last two months and have certainly missed playing,” Suryakumar Yadav was quoted as saying by the Indian Express.

“We are told that all guidelines will be followed including social distancing. And that we might practice with the bowling machine and get some time to bat in the middle,” Yadav said.

Well, it would be interesting to see how things would turn out. For now, the meetings were being conducted between franchise owners, BCCI, IPL and ICC officials for the start of Indian Premier League 2020.

Recently, BCCI president Sourav Ganguly has revealed that they are hopeful of hosting the IPL 2020. Already, countries like Sri Lanka, UAE has offered their help to host the upcoming edition of the tournament.
