Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh offered Harmanjeet Kaur a deputy superintendent’s post after her heroics in the semifinal against the Australians. Kaur, whose hard-hitting quality is now celebrated all over the country got this offer a few hours later India lost the final against England by 9 runs in a nail biting match.

The Punjab CM congratulated the whole team for their stellar performance throughout the World Cup and offered Harmanjeet, who is a native of Punjab, a DSP’s post if she wishes to join.

Earlier on Sunday, Amarinder Singh took to twitter to announce a cash reward of Rs. 5 Lakh to Kaur for her performance In the World Cup. She played fighting innings of 51 runs after India lost two early wickets, though she couldn’t take India over the rope.

However, despite losing the final the Women in blue received huge praise for their tenacity and tough fight. Prime Minister, Narendra Modi also congratulated the team for their gritty performance. “They have shown remarkable tenacity and skill through the World Cup,” he was quoted saying on twitter.

Ironically, the Punjab government rejected Kaur’s application to the state police department in 2011 even though she represented India for almost 2 years.
