Ravi Shastri delivered an inspirational speech after India beat Australia at The Gabba to retain the Border-Gavaskar series. He congratulated all the Indian players for their contribution towards the series win. Meanwhile, Indian fielding coach R Sridhar recalls the pep-talk that Shastri gave after India were bowled out for their lowest Test score ever in Adelaide. They were bowled out for 36 as Australian bowlers picked up nine Indian wickets in the space of an hour. It was one of the lowest points in Indian cricket.

Meanwhile, R Sridhar fondly remembers the pep-talk that Ravi Shastri gave to the Indian team who were very low on confidence and self-belief after their batting disaster in Adelaide.

“After 36 all-out, you didn’t know what’s next. Then Ravi (Shastri) bhai gathered the team and said: ‘Wear this 36 like a badge on your sleeves and you will be a great team’,” Sridhar told news agency PTI.

Sridhar also revealed that departing skipper Kohli provided some ‘lovely suggestions’ for the 2nd Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).

“After 40 days, it was gospel truth. Also we had five meetings in two days after the Adelaide Test finished on the third evening. Virat (Kohli), Jinks (Ajinkya Rahane) and the coaching staff discussed the combination and Virat gave some lovely suggestions for the MCG Test before leaving,” Sridhar added.

After conquering Australia Team India members along with coach Ravi Shastri returned back to India on Thursday. Meanwhile, Ajinkya Rahane with other Mumbai players Rohit Sharma, Prithvi Shaw, Shardul Thakur along with coach Ravi Shastri were felicitated by Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) officials, including President Vijay Patil and Apex Council members Ajinkya Naik, Amit Dani and Umesh Khanvilka.

An injury-ravaged India beat Australia by three wickets in the series-deciding fourth Test in Brisbane on Tuesday to clinch the series 2-1 and retain the Border Gavaskar Trophy.
