Ranji Trophy 2017/18, 4th Round: Mayank Agarwal slams triple century on the third day

It was another great day in Ranji Trophy as Mayank Agarwal completed his triple century for Karnataka and Karun Nair scored a century. Punjab, Gujarat, Kerala, Karnataka are on the verge of winning their respective matches.

Hyderabad has done a great job on the 3rd day dismissing Railways for 246. In their second innings, Railways are 13 for 0. Delhi began the day on 228 for 6 and added 41 runs. Shorey remained not out on 98 as the hosts were dismissed for 269. In reply, Suresh Raina was dismissed for another low score. UP ended the 3rd day on 224 for 7 with a lead of 246 runs.

It was another great display by Mayank Agarwal who remained not out on 304. Karun Nair also completed his century. Karnataka declared their innings on 628 for 5.

Saurashtra began the day on 341 for 5. Pujara showed his class with bat and scored a double century. Saurashtra declared their innings on 553 for 9. Jharkhand lost 2 wickets for 52 runs at the end of day 2.  Starting the day on 45 for 1, Kerala lost wickets at regular intervals and were dismissed for 191. Parveez Rasool took another 5 wicket haul in the match.

The defending Champions Gujarat began the day on 110 for 2. BH Merai scored 66, Rujul Bhatt 39, Manpreet Juneja 36 helped the hosts to declare their innings on 281 for 9. Needing a target of 361, Jammu and Kashmir are struggling with 56 for 7. Jammu and Kashmir needng182 runs to win chasing a target of 238 runs.

Starting the 3rd day on 177 for 5, Andhra Pradesh lower-order batsmen made useful contributions and helped AP to score 376. In their second innings, MP is struggling with 67 runs losing 5 wickets.

Tripura batsmen played with great positive intent with Smit Patel still not out on 123 and Yashpal Singh scoring 90. The visitors ended the on 327 for 4.

Mumbai started the day on 58 for 3. Siddesh Lad played a match-winning knock of 117 runs while Akash Parkar and Shardul Thakur made useful contributions and declared the innings on 268 for 9. Odisha ended the 3rd day on 93 for 4, requiring another 320 runs on the final day.

Himachal Pradesh began the day on 163 for 5. Ashok Dinda picked 3 more wickets to end with 5 wickets and bowled out Himachal Pradesh for 206. Following on, HP has made a strong response scoring 207 for 2. Prashant Chopra scored 81 while Khanduri remained not out on 67.

The third day Punjab saw the visitors continue their domination over Chhattisgarh. Punjab declared their innings on 653 for 9. Anmolpreet Singh scored 267 runs. In their second innings, Chhattisgarh has scored 171 for 4 wickets still behind.

Services started the day on 141 for 4. NH Verma scored 71, Rahul Singh 63 and Wakhare picked 2 more wickets to pick 5 wickets. In reply, Vidarbha is 111 for 2 with a lead of 179 runs.

Group A

Railways vs. Hyderabad ( Karnail Singh Stadium, Delhi)

Railways began the day on 35 for 1. They have been bowled out for 246. Following on, Railways are 13 for 0.

Uttar Pradesh vs. Delhi ( Palam A Stadium, Delhi)

Delhi began the day on 228 for 6 and could only add 41 runs. Delhi was bowled out for 269. In their second innings, Uttar Pradesh star player Suresh Raina again failed.

Uttar Pradesh 291 in 89.5 overs  (Mohammad Saif 83, AD Nath 59, UD Yadav 67*, I Sharma 3/47) and 224 for 7 in 63 overs ( AD Nath 110*, RK Singh 64, Ishant Sharma 3/34) lead Delhi 269 in 87 overs ( Gambhir 86, Shorey 98*, Saurabh Kumar 4/87, I Ahmed 3/33) by 246 runs.

Maharashtra vs. Karnataka (MCA Stadium, Pune)

Mayank Agarwal produced a great display of batting as the opener completed his triple century. Karun Nair also completed his century. Karnataka declared their innings on 628 for 5. Maharashtra in their second innings is 135 for 4.

Saurashtra vs. Jharkhand ( Rajkot)

Jharkhand lost 8 wickets and was dismissed for 270. In their second innings, Jharkhand is 139 for 1 in 24 overs.

Kerala vs. Jammu and Kashmir ( Thiruvananthapuram)

Kerala began the day on 45 for 1. Parveez Rasool broke the backbone of Kerala batting line up. Jammu and Kashmir dismissed Kerala for 191. Chasing the target of 238, Jammu and Kashmir are struggling at 56 for 7, needing 182 runs to win.

Jand K 173 in 62 overs  ( AO Bandy 35,SP Kariya 41, Bandeep Singh 39, Akshay 4/37) and 56 for 7 in 33 overs ( Parveez Rasool 17) need Kerala 219 in 76 overs ( Sanju Samson 112, Arun Karthik 35, Parveez Rasool 6/70) and 191 in 65.3 overs ( Rohan Prem 58, Arun Karthik 36, Parveez Rasool 5/70) 182 runs to win.

Gujarat vs. Haryana ( Valsad)

Gujarat began the day on 110 for 2. Merai scored 66, Manpreet Juneja 36, Rujul Bhatt 39 which helped the defending Champions declare their innings on 281 for 9. In their second innings, Haryana are struggling at 94 for 7

Andhra Pradesh vs. Madhya Pradesh ( Vizianagaram)

Andhra Pradesh began the day in a struggling position at 177 for 5. The lower order contributed valuable runs and was bowled out for 376. In their second innings, MP is struggling with 67 runs and lost 5 wickets.

Tripura made a strong response on the third day scoring 327 for 4. SK Patel is still not out on 123 while Yashpal Singh scored 90 runs.

Mumbai began the day on 58 for 3. The day did not start well for Mumbai as they lost 3 wickets. Siddesh Lad played a match-winning knock of 117, Akash Parkar and Shardul Thakur made useful contributions. Mumbai declared their innings on 268 for 9. In their second innings, Odisha is struggling at 93 for 4 require another 320 runs to win.

Bengal vs. Himachal Pradesh ( Eden Garden’s, Kolkata)

Himachal Pradesh started the day on 163 for 5. Bengal bowlers took the rest of 5 wickets just adding 43 runs to be bowled out for 206. Ashok Dinda picked 3 more wickets to end with 5 wickets. In the second innings, Himachal has made a strong response scoring 207 for 2.

Punjab played with positive intent and scored 481 for 6. Anmolpreet Singh is still not out on 171 and Mann scored 111.

Services began the day on 141 for 4. Vidarbha bowlers showed great discipline dismissing Services for 317. Vidarbha ended the 3rd day on  111 for 2 with a lead of 179 runs.
