Ravichandran Ashwin clears the much debated Yo-Yo Tests

Indian bowling-all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin has cleared the much discussed ‘Yo-Yo’ test which has been made mandatory for all cricketers to be available for national selection. Notably, ‘Yo-Yo’ test grabbed many eyeballs after allegedly senior players like Suresh Raina and Yuvraj Singh failed to pass the test recently.

Ashwin was seen sweating it out during Tamil Nadu’s opener against Andhra. Ashwin was practicing his fielding skills while his team was batting.  After the end of third days play, he was seen preparing himself for the much-debated fitness test. He made a training schedule and was strictly following it.

While leaving the ground when asked about his fitness, the off-spinner said to TOI, “I started understanding a lot more about myself – how much I need to load myself in terms of workload during Worcestershire stint. I had to do everything on my own – drive down to the ground, train myself, put the weights and coins in place and I thoroughly enjoyed it. For me, it”s about trying to get to the best rhythm possible and I land myself in the best rhythm possible and if I get an opportunity I am raring to go.”

Ashwin traveled to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) at Bengaluru to appear for this test, a day after his Ranji match in Chennai.

The 31-year-old cricketer took to Twitter to inform his fans about his result in the Yo-Yo test. “Been a good trip to Bangalore, yo-yo test done and dusted. Now #backtothegrind #RanjiTrophy2017 #teamtamilnadu,” he tweeted.

The new spinning duo of Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav has kept the much experienced Ashwin who is also number one choice for the test squad out of the ODI squad from the recent tours. However, Ashwin will be available for selection for the upcoming One-Day series against New Zealand starting on October 22 and then test series against Sri Lanka next month.
