The WCL matches are being played at Windhoek, Namibia between six teams UAE, Nepal, Canada, Kenya, Oman and the hosts Namibia.

The final two spots for 2018 cricket world cup qualifier will be determined by the result of this tournament.

Nepal defeats Kenya

Nepal youngster Sandeep Lamichhane played a vital role in scripting a win for the Nepal side against Kenya in the 10th match of the series held yesterday. The right arm leg break bowler bowled an amazing spell of 10-5-20-5 and made his side grab the second place in the points table.

Winning the toss Nepal opted to bowl first. Openers Irfan Karim and Obanda looked comfortable as they established a solid partnership of 65 runs before the latter was knocked off by Sandeep. The middle order failed miserably and was severely trapped by the spinning deliveries of Sandeep. By the end of 50 overs, Kenya scored 177/8.

Chasing a mediocre total, Nepal top order was rattled by Emmanuel Bundi leaving the pressure in the middle order. Aarif Sheik and Rohit Kumar with their knocks of 42 and 47 helped Nepal triumph.

A nail-biting contest

The match went on till the last over where 7 runs were required. All-rounder Sompal Kami made two runs off the last ball to mark an end to a nail-biting contest.

Sandeep – A rising star

Sandeep Lamichhane was bought by DD in the IPL auctions this year and the management will be really happy to welcome him to the side.

It is to be noted that Sandeep is now the leading wicket-taker of the series by taking 14 scalps off 4 matches.

Hearty congratulations to Sandeep on behalf of our cricfit team.
