Sanju Samson was on a roll as Rajasthan Royals posted 216 runs against Chennai Super Kings at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. The social media was on fire as Samson belted the Chennai bowlers all over the park. Amid these, former India international Gautam Gambhir has rated Sanju Samson as the best young Indian batsman at present.

Meanwhile, Gambhir has been vocal about the inclusion of Samson in the national side since long. A bright talent, Samson has amassed tons of runs playing in domestic cricket and in IPL. On Tuesday, the cricketer from Kerala was once again in fifth gear taking the bowlers to cleaners.

Samson best Indian young batsman – Gambhir

The right-handed batsman came out to bat early in the innings after the departure of Yashasvi Jaiswal. Ever since he stepped in, Samson looked in charge of the scheme of things. Sanju Samson took off in the 5th over, taking on Sam Curran, but reserved his best against spin. Jadeja went for plenty and Piyush Chawla simply went the distance.

His knock of 74 runs off just 32 deliveries included nine towering sixes. He is the only Indian player to hit nine sixes twice in an IPL innings. As Twitter went berserk, Gautam Gambhir took to social media to call him the best young Indian batsman.

“Sanju Samson is not just the best wicketkeeper batsmen in India but the best young batsman in India! Anyone up for debate?,” Gambhir tweeted.

In another tweet, Gambhir stated that it is strange that Sanju Samson will find a place in every playing XI except that of India. Incidentally, Samson got a long due earlier this year against New Zealand, however, failed to live up to the expectations.

“It’s weird that the only playing eleven Sanju Samson doesn’t find a place is that of India, rest almost everyone is ready for him with open arms,” Gambhir added.
