Shikhar Dhawan and KL Rahul attain their career best ICC rankings

The opening duo of India Shikhar Dhawan and KL Rahul have attend their career best ranking in the MRF Tyres ICC Test Player Rankings after their 188 runs stand in the third test against Sri Lanka which is also the highest opening partnership by any visiting team that played a major role in defeating Sri Lanka by an innings and 171 runs to clinch the series 3-0.

Shikhar Dhawan who broke into the squad after the regular opener Murali Vijay couldn’t recover from his injury jumped 10 places to reach the 28th spot in the test rankings. Dhawan was adjudged the Man of the Series for scoring 358 runs in 3 test matches with an average of 89.50, which also included his career best score of 190 runs from just 168 balls in the first test in Galle.

The stylish opener from Karnataka KL Rahul has also joined his teammates Virat Kohli, Ajinkya Rahane and Cheteshwar Pujara in the top-ten ranking for the test batsman’s list after reaching the 9th spot from his previous best of 11. Rahul has been a prolific run scorer for the India in the longer format scoring seven consecutive fifty-plus scores joining the likes of Everton Weekes, Andy Flower, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Kumar Sangakkara and Chris Rogers.

The talented all-rounder Hardik Pandya moved 45 places to reach the 68th spot after his blistering innings of 108 runs in just 96 balls. He smacked the ball all around the park hitting seven mammoth sixes and eight fours to complete his hundred.

However, Ravindra Jadeja who missed the third test in Pallekele due to a suspension slipped one spot to Shakib Al Hasan to be at the No 2 spot in the ICC all-rounder’s list whereas he continues to be the ranked one Test bowler.
