Sri Lanka suffered a huge blow as the lanky pace-bowler walked off the field during the second test of the three match series. The seamer will miss the remaining of India’s first innings which were confirmed by Sri Lanka’s manager Asanka Gurusinha.

Nuwan Pradeep left the field holding his hamstring bowling just four deliveries with the new ball on Thursday. He didn’t come back to the field after suffering the injury.

Pradeep will undergo an MRI scan in the evening and there is an element of doubt whether he can take part in the match again.

Sri Lanka went on to the game with a single pace option in this match and now with Pradeep missing they will have to depend on the part time option of Dimuth Karunaratne as the regular all-rounder Angelo Mathews not fit to bowl.

Sri Lanka lost the all-rounder Asela Gunaratne during the first day of the first test match with a fractured left hand while fielding in the slip. Rangana Herath, the stand-in captain also hurt himself during the first match however he was declared fit before the second test.

India after electing to bat first went on to score a mammoth total riding on two brilliant hundreds from Rahane and Pujara and fifty each from Saha, Rahul, Ashwin, and Jadeja.
