Anil Kumble resigned from the post of a coach after not having a rapport with each other in the last 6 months. The Indian team lost the finals of Champions Trophy 2017 to arch-rivals Pakistan by 180 runs.

The Current Advisory Committee member Sourav Ganguly said that India’s next head coach will be selected on 10th July.

The likes of Ravi Shastri, Venkatesh Prasad, Dodda Ganesh, Virender Sehwag, Richard Pybus, Lalchand Rajput and Tom Moody have applied for the vacant Indian team head coach. Ravi Shastri was named as the director of the Indian team since 2014 and went till 2016 World T20.

Last year, the BCCI gave the coaching job to Anil Kumble. Under his guidance, the Indian team won test series in West Indies, against New Zealand, England, Bangladesh, and Australia also won the ODI series against New Zealand and England. The Men in Blue reached the finals of recently concluded Champions Trophy 2017.

“The interview will be held on the 10th of this month in Mumbai,” Ganguly told reporters on the sidelines of a Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) meeting

The Indian team is without a head coach in the ODI series against West Indies. The CAC has decided to extend the date of applying for coach job till 9th July. Sourav Ganguly said that the situation between Kumble and Kohli must have been handled in a proper manner. Sanjay Bangar and MV Sridhar have gone with the Indian team to West Indies.

Virat Kohli and other Indian players were not happy with the style of coaching from Anil Kumble. It will be interesting to see if CAC goes with Ravi Shastri or brings a new coach. The veteran Indian Anil Kumble joined the Indian team last year in June.

Virender Sehwag, Tom Moody, Richard Pybus, Lalchand Rajput had applied for coach’s job as soon BCCI opened for candidates. Ravi Shastri also did a great job with the Indian team. Virender Sehwag gave a two line resume but BCCI asked him to give applications. Let us hope that a good coach would be selected.

India’s next tour starts from 26th July against Sri Lanka comprising of 3 test matches, 5 ODI and 1 T20.
