Stafanie Taylor tops the run scorers’ chart in WT20 2016: The 24 year old, all rounder, who bats right handed and bowls right arm off break, Stafanie Roxann Taylor, skipper of West Indies, occupies the numero uno position in the list of top run scorers’ in the recently concluded World T20 for women.

The West Indian women, who got the better of the Kiwi women in the semi finals, played at the Wankhede Stadium, rocked the Aussie women’s boat at Eden Gardens to win a stunning final, their first ever T20 World Cup Trophy.

It was a wonderful team effort under the able leadership of Taylor that kept the Aussie women at bay and clinch the title.

Playing in 4 games in the round robin league, the semi final and the final, Taylor had notched up 246 runs from six innings at an average of 41 with 56 runs as her individual best. She has scored all these runs at 93.18 strike rate. She also has a half century to her credit.

Her best knock of 56 runs came at the appropriate moment.

Having to chase a target of 149 runs set by the Aussie women in the title clash at the Eden Gardens, Taylor accompanied Hayley Mathews to open the innings and start the chase. The duo stayed put together until the fourth delivery of the 15th over, when Hayley was dismissed after scoring 66 runs of just 45 deliveries with the help of 6 fours and 3 sixes.

The opening pair put up a partnership of 120 runs in 15.4 overs. With just 29 runs needed from 26 deliveries, Taylor ensured that the team got those runs, for sure. Alongwith Deandra Dottin (18*), she added another 24 runs in 3 overs, before being caught by Jonnasen off the bowling of Farrell.

By this time West Indian victory was almost ensured and Taylor returned to the dug out with a great satisfaction after notching up 56 runs off 57 deliveries aided by 6 fours.

The remaining runs were scored by Dottin and Cooper (3*) and the Windies women had reached a landmark. They had beaten Aussie women to win their maiden WT20 World Cup.

Thus Taylor led the team from the front throughout the tournament and was rightly honoured with the Player of the Series award.

Following her closely has been the English women skipper, Charlotte Edwards who had scored 202 runs in 5 games (unbeaten once) at an average of 50.50 with an unbeaten 77* as her personal best. She had two half-centuries and 114.77 strike rate to her credit.
