Telangana Cricketer joins USA women’s cricket team

Sindhuja Reddy captained the Under 19 team for Hyderabad stateside has now been selected for the USA women’s Cricket team and would be looking for a place in the squad for the ICC World Cup in 2020. Reddy studied B Tech and MBA, moving to the USA. She was born on 17th May 1990.

She did her schooling in Hyderabad before playing for Hyderabad stateside and will be a part of USA women’s squad that will take part in the ICC women’s qualifier in Scotland during August this year. Reddy is a wicketkeeper and batswoman will represent the USA which is a big step for her. Sindhuja comes from Amangal Village in Nalgonda district.

Reddy had given up her cricketing career but found a new chance to make a name again in Cricket. She married to Siddartha Reddy and has moved to the USA. She impressed the USA selectors with both batting and wicketkeeping skills. Her parents were happy the selection of her in USA team.

Her father said that Reddy had the interest in Cricket from childhood and had played for her school team but her mother recalled that Reddy continued to struggle and wanted to make a career in some discipline.

It is great to see an Indian origin girl to take interest in the game of cricket. USA women’s team have never been to ICC women’s cricket world cup. Last time they participated they won only 1 match and lost the rest of five matches. Reddy 26 years old would be eager to perform well in the ICC qualifiers. Sindhuja will be looking to show her wicketkeeping and batting skills during the upcoming tournament.

The International Cricket Council made the USA eligible to play in international tournaments. It will be a great platform for Sindhuja Reddy to showcase her talent to the world. The USA men’s team participated in the ICC Champions Trophy 2004 in England.

The USA men’s team have done well in the ICC Americas Championship winning the trophy in 2010 and 2013 while finishing second place in 2011 and 2015.
