U19CWC: India thrash Papua New Guinea by 10 wickets to win their 2nd game

India Under 19 beat hapless Papua New Guinea in their second Group B match by 10 wickets at Bay Oval, Mount Maunganui just finished few moments ago. Prithvi Shaw won the toss and elected to field first. It was a brilliant performance by Indian bowlers as Anukul Roy took 5 wickets. PNG were bowled out for 64. The Indian captain Shaw and Manjot Kalra completed the task in 8 overs.

Indian captain Prithvi Shaw won the toss and invited Papua New Guinea into bat. It was a brilliant performance by the Indian bowlers who took wickets at regular intervals. PNG scored 40 runs for loss of 3 wickets in first powerplay overs. From 61 for 4, the Indian bowlers bowled PNG for 64 in 21. 5 overs. Anukul Roy was the pick of bowler for India taking 5 wickets for 14 runs in 6.5 overs. Shivam Mavi picked 2 wickets, Kamlesh Nagarkoti , Arshdeep Singh took 1 wicket each. For PNG, Ovia Sam was the top scorer with 15 runs.

Chasing the paltry total of 65, Prithvi Shaw made the batting look easy with attacking strokes. His opening partner Manjot Kalra faced only 9 balls. Shaw reached his half century off 37 balls. India Under 19 won the match by 10 wickets with 252 balls to spare. This win means that they are one step of qualifying for quarter finals stage. It was a great performance by Indian Under 19 team who outplayed Australia in the first match by 100 runs.

Anukul Roy was named the man of the match for his 5 wicket haul.
