Ireland has announced their entry into the test cricket today. With day 1 being washed out due to an incessant rain, the day 2 started with the toss. With no hesitation, the first Irish captain William Porterfield opted to bowl first after winning it. The match is being played at Dublin and Ireland have chosen to go with a full pace attack.

Pakistan managed to go with the same squad that played  Northamptonshire last week.  It was a historic moment in the history of Irish cricket as the caps were handed over to all the players and Boyd Rankin became one of the players to represent both nations (England and Ireland).

Meanwhile, a drama happened in the very first ball of the historic test match. Pakistani opener Imam-Ul-Haq engaged in a nasty clash between the Irish keeper Niall O”Brien and fielder Tyrone Kane. Azhar Ali hit the ball towards the leg side and called Imam for a single. To complete the run, Imam ran towards the keepers” end but ended up in an “unprecedented” blow between the hips of the keeper and fielder. The physio made his way to the middle and treatment was given to Imam.

This video is trending on Twitter right now. It is to be noted that Imam-Ul-Haq, nephew of Pakistan selection committee Chairman and ex-cricketer Inzamam-ul-Haq is playing his debut match today. Ireland has sent both the openers back to hut and Rankin became the first player to take a wicket for Ireland.
