The Indian team enjoyed in the pool after thrashing Sri Lanka by an innings and 53 runs at SSC, Colombo on day 4. It was a great performance by team India who outplayed the hosts by scoring 622 for 9 declared. Sri Lanka was bundled out for 183 in the first innings but had to fight it out hard. Kusal Mendis and Karunanthe scored brilliant centuries. India bowled out Sri Lanka for 386 runs giving India a 2-0 series win. The Indian team showed their class with great all-round performances by all the players.
Rahane, Ishant Sharma, KL Rahul, Pujara, Kuldeep Yadav, Umesh Yadav, Mohammed Shami, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Shikhar Dhawan, captain Kohli were enjoying the day off by splashing into the pool with the physio. Pujara and Rahane scored vital centuries while Ashwin, Saha and Jadeja knock’s helped team India to post a mammoth total of 622 for 9 in 158 overs. The Indian team won the first Test at Galle in 4 days to take a 1-0 lead.
Ashwin was the main wicket taker with 5 wickets in the first innings while Jadeja had to work hard to take 5 wickets. The left arm spinner was awarded for his all-round performance the man of the match. He scored 70 runs and took 7 wickets in the match.
The third test match will be played from 12th July at Kandy. With Ravindra Jadeja banned from the 3rd test, Kuldeep Yadav might get a chance to play in the XI. Now with the series clinched, the Indian team would be looking to continue their winning ways and clean sweep the series with another dominating performance.
It has been a dominating performance by team India so far winning the series in just 8 days.
