VIDEO: Rohit is not afraid of bowlers, but he is cautious against this

Dive back to November 2,2013-it was the decider of famous India vs Australia ODI series. Ro’HIT’ Sharma struck a belligerent 209 to seal the match and thereby the series in India’s favor. He would have perhaps laughed it off if one had said to him at that stage that he would go on to register 2 more double tons in ODI’s (the number might increase given his love for 200’s)

In 2014, he was away for quite some time owing to a finger injury but returned to the squad in the 4th ODI against Sri Lanka in November. He compensated for all the action that the fans had missed out due to his absence by scoring a mammoth 264 off a mere 173 balls.

In Mohali, he stepped on the gas post reaching 100 and went berserk unleashing his wide range of shots.  The Lankan bowlers had a nightmarish outing and would be eyeing to put in a better performance in the 3rd ODI at Vizag.

Rohit dealt mostly in sixes towards the later part of his innings and cleared the ropes with ease. It has been a pleasure watching him bat at the top order in a mature way with an appetite for big scores.

As part of the Indian dressing room tradition, the man of the match or the one who celebrates a birthday, or an important occasion is made to cut a cake. Rohit obliged and did the honors after the 2nd ODI.

In a video shared by BCCI through a tweet, the squad and support staff are seen in a joyous mood. But, Rohit looks alert and has a slightly concerned look on his face as he is perhaps worried about cake smearing activity from his teammates.

Luckily for the hitman, only Ajinkya and Chahal did some “cake touch-up”, if one can call it that way, and he was spared relatively soon. We know of instances in the past where we eventually failed to figure out the person, thanks to the intensity of cake smearing.

Small things mean a lot, especially in a high-pressure environment where the team is expected to perform well day in and day out. Such a celebration brings the entire unit closer and is a great opportunity for each of them to recognize and enjoy the success of colleagues.

Team India would be hoping for more such happy moments by winning the last ODI on 17th in Vizag.
