Rishabh Pant got the nod ahead of Wriddhiman Saha in the final three Test matches purely due to his batting skills. He ended the series as India’s highest scorer in the series with 274 runs from three matches at an average of 68.50.

Meanwhile, his Indian teammate Wriddhiman Saha who is touted as the better keeper between the two said that Pant will improve his keeping skills with time. Both the keepers were a part of the victorious Indian squad which won the Test series in Australia recently.

“No one learns algebra in class I. You always go step by step. He is giving his best and will definitely improve. He has always matured and proved himself. In the long run, it augurs well for the Indian team” Saha said on Pant.

The Bengal keeper-batsman further said that he shares a jovial relationship with Rishabh Pant and is always looking to help each other improve their game.

“You can ask him (Pant), we have a friendly relationship and help each other whoever gets into the XI. Personally, there’s no conflict with him,” Saha further said on Pant.

Saha scored nine and 14 in the first Test in Adelaide where India were dismissed for 36 in the second innings. Meanwhile, Rishabh Pant scored 97 in the second innings in Sydney and a match-winning 89* on the fifth day at The Gabba to help India beat Australia.

Rishabh Pant was once again compared to MS Dhoni after his recent success with the bat. However, the young and promising player has played down the comparisons saying that he wants to make a name for himself in the team. Both Pant and Saha have been picked for the first two Tests in the home series against England next month.
