Yuvraj Singh and Suresh Raina fails the endurance Test

Yuvraj Singh and Suresh Raina did not pass the YO- YO endurance test. Both players were dropped from the limited overs squad against Sri Lanka starting from 20th August. In the test, players have to get 19.5 but both players did not score well. With the World Cup 2019, the Indian team wants to be the fittest team in the world.

Yuvraj Singh has not been in great form after the first match against Pakistan during the Champions Trophy 2017. It is a big blow for Yuvraj Singh who won India 2 major titles in 2007 and 2011. The Indian team has been on a roll winning the test series against Sri Lanka 3-0. With ODI series coming up against the same team in 2 days time, the Indian team would love to dominate the hosts.

In the YO- YO fitness test, cones are put 20 meters and then the players with the foot behind runs when the instructions are given. Both Yuvraj Singh and Suresh Raina failed to run the distance within the time. As the time passes, the test gets tougher as the player needs to runs faster. The players need to increase the pace and also make it fast with two more beeps. If the player fails the test, the beep is stopped.

Yuvraj Singh failed to catch up with speed of the test as while Suresh Raina. Suresh Raina was training hard with MS Dhoni at the NCA but failed endurance test. India will play five ODI matches against Sri Lanka which will be followed 5 ODI matches against Australia in Sept. The fitness is the biggest thing that team India wanted going into World Cup 2019 to be held in England. India lost the Champions Trophy 2017 to arch-rivals Pakistan by a massive margin.

Suresh Raina played his last ODI against South Africa in 2015. “The current selector MSK Prasad said that fitness is the most important thing”.
