- MSD was employed as a Train Ticket Examiner (TTE) at Kharagpur Railway Station from 2001 to 2003. Dhoni’s friend Santosh Lal taught him the Helicopter shot.
- MS Dhoni is the only captain in the world to score a century batting at no.7 in ODIs. He did it against the arch rivals Pakistan in December 2012 when India were struggling with 5 wickets down in 10 overs.

- Dhoni is the only player to win ICC ODI player of the year twice. He was always in the Top 10 ODI batsmen from the year 2005 to 2015.It was for the first time after 10 years that he failed to grab a spot in the Top 10.
- He was conferred with the honorary rank of Lt Colonel by the Indian Territorial Army in November 2011. Dhoni has always shown interest in Army and would like to play some role in it in the future.
