1097 Players register For IPL 2021 Player Auction On February 18

1097 players from all across the world have registered for the upcoming IPL 2021 auction scheduled to take place in Chennai on 18th February. Meanwhile, the franchises have already revealed the list of retained players on January 20, and Royal Challengers Bangalore were among the franchises to release the most number of players – 10.

The IPL 2021 auction will see 1097 cricketers go under the hammer which includes 207 capped, 863 uncapped, and 27 Associate players. A couple of players are expected to set the auction floor on fire which includes Steve Smith, Aaron Finch, Chris Morris, and Dawid Malan.

Veteran India fast bowler Sreesanth, who returned to competitive cricket after seven years, has also registered his name for the auction while Australian quick Mitchell Starc has once again decided to skip IPL.

IPL 2021 auction to take place on February 18

The Kings XI Punjab are left with Rs 53.2 crores – the most by any franchise and have 14 slots to fill – nine domestic and five overseas. On the other hand, Delhi Capitals currently have the lowest purse heading into the IPL 2021 auction with eight spots to fill – two domestic and six overseas.

Meanwhile, if every franchise has a maximum of 25 players in their squad, 61 players will be taken in the auction (of which up to 22 may be overseas players).
