2 Bullet Shells Found In Sri Lankan Team Bus Ahead Of Test Series: Reports

According to reports in India Today, Chandigarh Police are on high alert after finding two empty bullet shells in the luggage compartment of a private bus being used to take the Sri Lankan cricket team from their hotel near IT Park, to Mohali’s PCA stadium. Currently, India and Sri Lanka are playing a three-match T20I series.

After this, the teams are scheduled to play two Tests against each other, with the first match beginning on March 4 at Mohali. The Sri Lankan players who are only part of the Test squad, are staying in Chandigarh and training at the stadium in Mohali.

Bullet shells were found during the routine frisking of the bus: Police

According to the police, the empty bullet shells were discovered during a regular inspection of the bus on Saturday. The bus was parked at the hotel complex during that time.

“Two empty bullet shells were found during the routine frisking of the bus through the metal detector and other sophisticated gadgets. The shells were found in the luggage compartment of the bus. Before ferrying the cricketers, the bus was used for a marriage function a few days back. The bus driver is being questioned.”, a police officer attached with the security wing said as quoted by ‘The Indian Express’.

No FIR has been filed so far. Only a DDR (daily diary register) has been registered by the police. According to police sources, the bus was recently booked for a wedding function. The bullet shells may have been left there since celebratory firing during marriages is common in some Indian states including Punjab. More information about the case is likely to be revealed in the next few days.
