The England cricket team stormed into the final of the 2022 T20 World Cup by beating India convincingly in the semi-final on Thursday, November 10 at the Adelaide Oval. They registered a 10 wickets win in the match, on the back of Jos Buttler and Alex Hales’ emphatic batting performances. Following England’s win, an old tweet from all-rounder Ben Stokes has gone viral on social media.

England cricketer Ben Stokes had predicted an England vs Pakistan final at the 2021 T20 World Cup. While the all-rounder was not part of the event due to an injury, both England and Pakistan performed well in that edition. They topped their respective groups’ points tables. However, they could not make it to the final.

A year later, Ben Stokes’ tweet resurfaced again, as England reached the finals of the 2022 T20 World Cup, where they will be facing Pakistan. Predicting the finalists in the last edition, Ben Stokes tweeted, “England vs Pakistan Final ???”

Tonight is one of the best nights of my career: Alex Hales after England’s semi-final win

England opener Alexz Hales was delighted with his performance against India in the semi-final of the 2022 T20 World Cup. He expressed that it was special to play an important role in a huge occasion against India. The batter smashed 86 runs off 47 deliveries, including four boundaries and seven sixes. His partnership with skipper Jos Buttler powered England to the final.

Speaking about his knock, Alex Hales said at the post-match presentation,

“It will be right up there for sure (referring to a perfect inning). The huge occasion, India in a semifinal of a World Cup. Really happy with the way I played and it is as special as it gets. This is one of the best grounds to bat in, especially in the powerplay, a really good surface and great value for good cricket shots, this is a ground I have good memories of, and enjoy batting here.”

“I never thought I would play in a World Cup again. To get the chance is a very special feeling, in a country (Australia) that I love and spend a lot of time in. Tonight is one of the best nights of my career. Jos was unbelievable,” he added.
