The 2022 T20 World Cup has been a stellar tournament so far. It has entered its final week, with the semi-finals starting on Wednesday. The Indian cricket team is all set to take on England in the second semi-finals of the 2022 T20 World Cup on Thursday, November 8 at the Adelaide Oval. The fans of both sides will be hoping that rain does not play a spoilsport at the Adelaide.

The Rohit Sharma-led team finished the Super 12 stages with eight points, leading Group 2. They won four out of their five matches and had a Net Run Rate of +1.319. On the other hand, England finished below New Zealand at number 2, with a Net Run Rate of +0.473. They had three wins from five matches. The semi-final between the two teams is expected to be a cracker of a match. However, as we have witnessed in this tournament, rain might prove to be a threat.

In this article, we take a look at what will happen if India vs England semi-final gets washed out due to rain.

What happens if the India-England semi-final gets washed out due to rain?

According to the rules for the 2022 T20 World Cup, both the semi-finals will have a reserve day, in case rain plays spoilsport. If the complete day one is washed out, the match will begin on the reserve day. In the second scenario, where the match gets interrupted due to rain, and could not be held further on that day, it will be continued on the reserve day. In case, if the reserve day to witnesses rain, a total of 10 overs need to be completed in the second innings for a result.

Further, if both days get washed out due to rain, the team that ranks better in the Super 12 stages points table gets through to the finals. India will get through if the second semi-final, including the reserve day, gets washed away due to rain.
