2,500 Police Deployed For India vs Bangladesh T20 Match In Gwalior

A large police force of over 2,500 personnel has been stationed in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, for the India-Bangladesh T20 match scheduled for Sunday. This extensive security arrangement has been made in response to a call for a shutdown by right-wing groups, protesting against alleged violence against Hindus in Bangladesh following the collapse of the Sheikh Hasina government in August.

Heavy Security Around Team Hotels and Match Day Plan

Since Wednesday, security has been intensified around the two hotels where the teams are staying, ensuring a safe environment for players. On the day of the match, police officers will be present on the streets starting at 2 p.m. and will remain on duty until all spectators have returned home safely. According to Gwalior Zone Inspector General of Police Arvind Saxena, strict surveillance will also be maintained on social media, and monitoring has been heightened in the wake of prohibitory orders imposed by the district administration.

Prohibitory Orders and Match Venue

The district magistrate issued prohibitory orders on Thursday, banning protests and the dissemination of inflammatory content, especially on social media, to prevent any unrest during the match. These restrictions will remain in effect until October 7. The highly anticipated match will take place at the Madhavrao Scindia International Stadium, which can hold 30,000 spectators. Authorities are focused on ensuring a peaceful and incident-free event for all.

The India-Bangladesh T20 match in Gwalior is not just a sporting event but also a significant logistical operation due to the heightened security concerns. With more than 2,500 police officers deployed, the local authorities are taking every measure to ensure the safety of players and spectators, particularly in light of the protests called by right-wing groups.

The implementation of prohibitory orders and enhanced monitoring, especially on social media, reflect the seriousness of the situation. As the match takes place at the newly constructed Madhavrao Scindia International Stadium, maintaining peace and preventing any disruptions remains a top priority.
