The Indian Under 19 Team will look to prove their worth as they face New Zealand in the first semi-finals to be played at Senews Park, Potchefstroom on 27 January 2023.

Shafali Verma-led side has been in sensational form finishing at the top of the Super Six stage in Group 1. Their only loss came against Australia where the Indian batters struggled. With the experience of Shafali Verma and Richa Ghosh, the Indian team would look to dominate the New Zealand side and qualify for the grand finale of the inaugural edition of the Under 19 World Cup 2023.

The Indian team performed brilliantly in the entire tournament so far. There have been some brilliant performances by batters and bowlers.

3 Indian Under 19 players to look out for in SF against New Zealand:

  1. Shafali Verma

The explosive right-handed batter Shafali Verma has been in cracking form. She has the ability to provide flying starts to the team and put the opponent bowlers under pressure with her big hitting.

She has played so far 5 matches in tournaments so far with 147 runs. Shafali Verma would play a key role in helping the Indian team provide flying starts taking on the pacers and spinners putting enough pressure on New Zealand bowlers.

Despite having low scores, Shafali Verma will look to create an impact in the first six overs and make sure that India can post or chase down targets easily.

  1. Shweta Seharwat

Shweta Sherawat is another right-handed batter for Team India opening with Shafali Verma. She has played 5 matches in the ICC Under 19 World Cup 2023 so far with 231 runs from 5 matches with the best score of 92 off 57 balls in the opening match against South Africa.

The Indian team would be hoping that Shweta continues her superb form in the semi-finals against New Zealand and make sure that India makes it into the finals with delightful strokes.

It will be a big motivation for the opener to give decent starts along with Shafali Verma and create an impact in the first six overs.

  1. Mannat Kashyap

Mannat Kashyap is a left-handed batter and left-arm slow bowler. She has been in decent form for Team India in this tournament so far. Kashyap did a superb job with 2 for 19 against Sri Lankan women on 22 January. She did not pick any wickets in the Super Six match against Australia as the Indian team could not defend a low total.

Kashyap picked 4 for 12 against Scotland Women in the Group stage. The Indian Team would be hoping that she peaks at the right time tomorrow with wickets and also contributes valuable runs in times of crisis.

The Indian Under 19 team would be hoping for an all-around effort and help them to qualify for the finals.
