The Indian Cricket Team had a mixed-bag year in a One Day international format in 2022. They played a total of 24 ODI matches winning 14 out of them, 8 losses, and 2 no results.

The second-string South African side whitewashed India by 0-3 in South Africa. They whitewashed West Indies 3-0 each time at home and in West Indies, followed by a whitewash against Zimbabwe in Zimbabwe. They won the ODI series against South Africa by 2-1 and then the ODI series against England in England by 2-1.

They lost the 3-match ODI series against New Zealand by 0-1. Their ODI journey ended with a shocking 1-2 loss to Bangladesh in Bangladesh.

There were some great individual performers by Indian players in One-day international form during this year.

  1. Shreyas Iyer

Shreyas Iyer enjoyed great success for Team India in the ODI format during 2022 finishing as the leading run-getter. He made a total of 724 runs from 17 matches (15 innings) with an average of 55.69.

During this calendar year, Shreyas Iyer played important knocks for Team India in helping them win matches. He hit 1 century and 6 half-centuries to his name in 2022. His best knock came against South Africa in the 2nd One-day international at Ranchi. India lost 2 early wickets to Shikhar Dhawan and Shubman Gill.

Shreyas Iyer scored his maiden ODI century and remained unbeaten 113 off 111 balls with 15 fours. For his match-winning knock, he was named the player of the match award. He has been consistent for Team India during 2022 in the ODI format.

  1. Shikhar Dhawan

Shikhar Dhawan also performed decently for Team India in the ODI format in 2022. He made a total of 688 runs from 22 matches (22 innings) with 6 half-centuries to his name. Dhawan posted his highest score of 97 in the first One-day international match against West Indies at Port of Spain, Trinidad.

He was named the stand-in captain for the ODI series against Zimbabwe, West Indies, and New Zealand where Rohit Sharma was not available. In recent times, Dhawan has been struggling for form against South Africa and New Zealand.

Due to his inconsistent form and fitness, Dhawan was dropped from the ODI squad that would face Sri Lanka.

  1. Shubman Gill

Shubman Gill had a tremendous year in the One-day international format for Team India. He made his ODI debut against New Zealand at Hamilton on January 31, 2019.

He was given chances for Team India regularly in the ODI format regularly. It was a remarkable effort by Gill with 638 runs from 12 matches (12 innings) at an average of 70.88. He hit his maiden ODI century against Zimbabwe in the 3rd ODI match against Zimbabwe at Harare.

Gill hit 130 off 97 deliveries with 15 fours and 1 six that helped Team India post 289 for 8. For his 130 off 97 balls, he was named the player of the match award and named player of the series award for his 245 runs in the ODI series.
