Senior Indian batsman Rohit Sharma will miss out from India’s ODI and T20I series against Australia starting November 27. He is suffering from a hamstring injury which he picked up in the IPL. He was asked to return to India and undergo rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy as his Indian teammates left for Australia.

He will only be allowed to travel if he clears the fitness Test. Meanwhile, his absence will be a big loss for India in the ODIs and T20Is. Here is a look at 3 players who can replace the Hitman in India’s playing XI in the games.

3 Players Who Can Rohit Sharma In The Indian ODI and T20I squad:

Shubman Gill

Gill is included in the Indian ODI squad for the Australia series. He ended IPL 2020 with 440 runs and was KKR‘s highest run-scorer in the competition. With Rohit missing, Gill can be an ideal replacement at the top of the order as he can anchor the innings.

The likes of Kohli, Agarwal, Rahul and Hardik can then come below him and scoring big in the end overs. Gill is seen as the future of Indian cricket and a good series against Australia will just add weight to that point. He is one of the perfect replacement of Rohit Sharma.

Sanju Samson

Sanju Samson is another option that India can use at the top of the order. He has proved his quality time and again in the IPL and its time that the BCCI selection committee gives him a long run. The six matches (3 ODIs, 3 T20Is) will be an ideal opportunity for Samson to prove his mettle at the top of the order.

He scored back to back fifties to start off his IPL 2020 campaign and ended up as the highest run-getter for Rajasthan Royals. Having made his India back in 2015, Samson has been ignored by the selectors a number of times before. Samson has already made his T20I debut.

If he is given a game, he can make his ODI debut as well.

While Rohit will be absent from the limited-overs leg of the series, the BCCI wants him back for the Test series with Kohli returning back after the first match.
