1. Gautam Gambhir
The 35-year old veteran is showing time and time again that there is a still lot of cricket left in him. The left hander who is going through a purple patch in IPL, had made a brief comeback to the Test side last season. Having been there in some of the most critical moments during India”s 2007 T20 WC and 2011 World Cup final will do a word of good to his chances.
2. Shikhar Dhawan
It all started for the flamboyant opening batsman during the English summer of “13. Dhawan went all guns blazing and topped the run charts of CT 2013 scoring 363 runs at 91. However since then things have not quite gone well for him. Having lost his place from the test side, he is hanging by thread in ODI side. However he has history on his side which will boost his chances to a great extent.
3. Dinesh Karthik
The Tamil Nadu wicket keeper”s career has been hot and cold so far. He has been in and out of scheme of things. However with the back of grand performance in Vijay Hazare Trophy scoring 607 at an average of 86, he is right there knocking selectors” door. Like Dhawan, he too enjoyed his living in UK in 2013. His electrifying skills in the field and ability to keep gives him edge over others.
4. Parthiv Patel
The wicket keeper batsman had a dream of a home season leading Gujarat to Ranji Trophy victory. He also scored 2 fifties on his comeback to Indian test side. Being an attractive player to watch when on song, Parthiv has got all shots in the book. Also he could don the gloves and can play as a back-up keeper for MS.
